Stuff to Scrap Blog Train

I decided to try my hand at designing for the Stuff to Scrap Blog Train that they do monthly. Anyone can participate. This is my very first mini kit! I'm quite happy with how it came out! Theme was French Tulips. I wanted to make papers that looked like fabrics. I made a lot of the overlays myself. Now I'm addicted to making papers! I'm not quite sure about how to make my own elements so I don't like making those as much! I'm working on 2 more mini kits now. I think the designing bug has bit me! Anyways, I'm sure you're all here for the freebie!

Here's the preview of my kit:

You can download it HERE. Please leave some love if you like my kit since it's my first and I'm not too sure what other people think about it!

Here's the rest of the train stops!

New Kit in Store for JW DigiScraps

JW DigiScraps has opened a new store at Enchanted Studio Scraps. She has also added a new kit in her stores (at Enchanted Studio Scraps and Divine Digital) called "Romance." This kit has soft colors and patterns, perfect for those romantic pictures. Here's a preview of her kit.

I don't happen to have many of those because I tend to take photos of my babies instead of my husband! Ha ha. So I used this kit to make layouts of my daughter. Here are 2 pages that I did. The first one was for the Brownie Flip Challenge at Brownie Scraps. They give you a layout and you have to flip it in some way to make it your own.

If you come back later this week, I'm going to have the second one as a freebie template. Head on over to either Enchanted Studio Scraps or Divine Digital to pick up this kit!

Sneak Peek and a QP

Marni Designs at Brownie Scraps is coming out with a new kit on March 1st. Hard to believe it's almost March, isn't it??? Here's a quick peek at her new kit called Color Me Happy and it's a collab with Designs by Anja J. The colors are so much fun! I used this kit for layouts for both my son and daughter! It's nice to have kits that are versatile!

I have a freebie QP for you from Marni Design's kit Peaceful which you can find in her store for $2.50. I showed you this layout before but I thought I would show it to you again. Click here to download the QP. ***Sorry, link expired***

I left the cutie pie word art off the QP but I have it here if you want to download it. I offered it before but I don't think the freebie search engines picked it up then! So click HERE to download the word art.

Speed Scraps

My sister called and asked me if something was wrong because I hadn't updated my blog in 2 days! So I guess I better post some pictures. I've been busy working on an upcoming projects which I'll tell you about later. I've also been very busy participating in speed scraps. They've been very addicting! I did 2 at Brownie Scraps in the last week. Here are my layouts. This first one was made using the SUN blog train called Rainbrella. I thought they were appropriate colors for Easter with all the brightly colored eggs! I don't think I followed the directions exactly but I really like how it turned out! I really LOVE these photos of my twins!

This second one was made using Another Planet by Inspired Designs (the string is from The Scrappin' Cop and the buttons are from Gunhild Storeide). I love this kit and I hadn't found a use for it until now! The colors worked perfectly. The directions said to cut out 5 squares and place them near the photo with at least 2 of them touching the photo. I misread the directions because I thought ALL of them needed to touch the picture. I wasn't sure about this layout at first but I love it! I resized the buttons a little after I saved it as a jpeg so just imagine the buttons a little smaller! Both of these layouts are totally different for me and I learned that I scrap in different styles! I hope you like them.

Layouts from Defining Moments by Marni Designs

I'm exhausted! We had a first birthday party for our twins yesterday and I have a sinus infection so I'm worn out! The party went really well and I can't wait to scrap pictures of them with their cakes. Unfortunately I didn't get a great one of Noah so I'm going to ask around to see if anyone got a better one!

I just wanted to share a couple layouts that I did using Defining Moments by Marni Designs and Brandy Designs. This kit is so fun because it can be used for both boys or girls. There are so many different elements to play with. I had to restrain myself for using too many of them on one page! LOL This first one is one that I did for a Speed Scrap at Stuff to Scrap. (Yes, I'm addicted to speed scraps!) I really struggled with the paper strips but I think they turned out really well! Now I put paper strips on a lot of my layouts!

This second one was made using the template for the Template Challenge at Digital Scrap Cafe. The template is by Pure Creativity Designs. I actually made one of Natalie eating cookies and one of Noah eating cookies using the same template. I'll share Noah's another day. I'm kind of seeing a trend with my layouts here, my babies are messy eaters!!! Ha ha.

Now I'm going to relax today! My house has recovered from their party and now it's my turn!

My Babies are 1 = Freebie for you!

My twins turned 1 today! It's been an exhausted yet rewarding year. In honor of their birthday I tried my hand at designing an element for you (my first time ever) to offer as a freebie for you. I wanted something that would mean celebration. So I decided to make a slice of cake inspired from their birthday outfits. I made one for my daughter (in pink) and then recolored it for my son (in blue). Then I decided that I might as well make it a layered PSD template for all of you! It's a juvenile birthday cake which means it's not clean and polished with straight edges. It's little kid-ish. I hope you like it and can find some use for it. If you like it please leave your love because I'm really nervous that nobody is going to like it! This one is CU OK.

Some girl layouts

So I recently told my sister about my blog and she commented to me that I post a lot of layouts of my son and always say something along the lines of "here's a layout of my son since I tend to do more layouts of my daughter." She thinks I actually have posted more layouts of my son than daughter! I didn't go back and count to be sure. So today, in honor of my sister, I am going to post a couple layouts that are girly! This first one is made for a Brownie Scraps challenge called Brownie Indulgence Challenge. A designer provides a mini kit and you have to use every single piece of the kit. This kit is called Valentine and it is by Flutterbye Faery Designs. You can go over to Brownie Scraps and join in the challenge.

This second layout was done for a Scraplift Challenge at Stuff to Scrap. I had never done a photo blended into a background paper before and I wasn't too sure if I would like it. Once I did it, I loved it! This kit is called This is Me by Sweet Digi Scraps.

I hope you enjoy your Valentine's Day with your loved ones! I'll be back tomorrow with a freebie QP from JW DigiScraps' new kit.

JW DigiScraps' New Kit!

Janice, JW DigiScraps, has just released her new kit called "A Little One's Love." It's a fun Valentine's Day kit but can also be used for so much more. It's full of reds, pinks, aquas and blues. Here's a preview of the kit.

Isn't it fun? You can pick it up for just $2 through next Saturday! That's a great deal! You can find it at either Stuff to Scrap or Divine Digital. Here are a couple layouts that I made using this kit. When I first saw the colors, I immediately thought of the Cubs! So I scrapped a page of my babies in their Cubs gear since we are such big fans! The second layout is one that I'm offering as a QP coming up soon!

Come back to get that freebie QP in a couple days!

Hmm...What to blog about today?

I'm really not to chatty today! We had no heat in our house this morning and it was down to 55 degrees in our house! Luckily my father in law is quite handy and fixed it for us but it was a cold morning with babies. I took some pictures and I'm going to try to scrap them really soon! They looked so cute all bundled up.

I'll just share a quick layout with you and then I should get moving and not be lazy anymore! I'm sharing one of my son since I tend to do more layouts of my daughter! This one was done for the Word of the Week Challenge (WOW) at Stuff to Scrap. It's my first time participating in it but when I saw that we could chose any -able word about a loved one, I knew I had to use the word pinchable! My son has the chubbiest cheeks! I used Boy Wonder by Sus Designs and the template is by Sweet Tomato Designs. This week's word is ball. Noah loves to play ball but I don't think I've captured any photos of him playing ball. Maybe I should take some tomorrow!

Sneak Peek

Janice, JW Digi-Scraps, said I could show you the sneak peek of her kit coming out on the 13th! Here it is! It's a fun Valentine's Day kit for kids but it is also good for scrapping other things. I'll give you a hint.I did not make a Valentine's Day layout instead I used 2 of the colors to make a layout of my babies with a sports team outfit on. Any ideas what team I'm talking about?? Come back on Saturday to see the full kit plus the layouts that I made using this kit.

News and a Challenge

Sorry I didn't blog yesterday, I'm working on a couple different projects. One is a mini scavenger hunt for the guests to play at my twin's 1st birthday party. I wanted to have a game that adults would like since my twins will probably be napping and my niece will be too, so it just leaves adults! I love participating in road rallys and scavenger hunts. My sister and dad put together a road rally for my 30th birthday. It was so much fun! Not too long ago my sister put together a photo scavenger hunt for a date day for my husband and I. I have her about 30 minutes notice! I'm working on scrapping that into a small flip book.

Another project I'm working on is related to digital scrapbooking. Stuff to Scrap has a forum blog train challenge. Anyone can sign up to make a mini kit or QP for the color palette and theme for that month. The train departs on the 1st of each month. I've picked up several of the trains before and I love them! I decided to try my hand at designing. So if I get it done in time, you'll get a free mini kit from me on March 1st. This month's theme is French Tulips and it has red, light green, light blue, navy and beige. I'm almost done with my papers. I love making papers! I wanted to make my own elements but I'm not that good! I'll probably have to get some CU stuff and then recolor it. But I'm trying to extract stuff.

A third project is what relates to my news. I don't know if you noticed but I have another CT blinkie on the right. I got accepted into JW Digi Scraps' creative team! Janice has a Valentine's Day kit that is going to be released on Saturday. I've already done one page for it and I'm going to work on another one soon. Stay tuned because you might get a freebie QP out of it!

Onto the challenge. I participated into another speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap yesterday. Luckily my babies cooperated and napped until I was done! I used a kit called Happy Day by Mel Hains Designs. I really love her style plus she gives away one free kit over the course of 4 weeks. This was last months (I think). Due to the instructions given for the speed scrap I had to use two elements that weren't in her kit. The straight stitches are from Os designs and the circle stitches are from Aprilisa Designs' Best Friends kit which I recolored. i've been wanted to scrap these pictures for a while but never got around to it. I just love watching my babies play duets on the piano!

2 challenges in one!

Since I love challenges so much and I do them at a variety of sites, I thought why not combine 2 different ones? The two challenges I combined were the Use It or Lose It Challenge at Stuff to Scrap and the Quote Challenge at Digital Scrap Cafe. Val C. Designs at Digital Shop Cafe came up with the quote "You make me laugh even when life is far from funny" and even made a word art for us to use. The Use It or Lose It Challenge is when you are given a mini kit and you have to use all the pieces! This kit was made by Little Red Scraps and it is called Everyday Moments Sampler. I love the blues and greens because then I can use the kit to scrap pictures of my son. I thought these colors would go perfectly with the quote which I recolored to make work with my layout. It's true that these babies make me laugh even when life is far from funny!

Another Be Mine Layout

Well I made another layout with Marni Designs' new kit Be Mine. I tired to make it not focused on love to show you how versatile this kit can be. I also combined this layout with the recipe challenge at Stuff to Scrap. It's where they give you a list of things you HAVE to use in your layout. This one called for 1 solid paper (oh boy, I really wanted to add more paper!), 2 pictures of the same person at different times (that's what gave me the idea of showing how the babies have changed), 1 ribbon or bow, 1 flower, 1 brad or eyelet, stitching or stapes, title and any other elements you want to add. I had a hard time with the flower because I don't think flowers belong on pages for boys! The kit didn't come with eyelets but have no fear, I just used the dot off the i in the alpha! I tried making my own eyelets but the dot in the i looked much better! I added a few more elements but not too many. I love how it turned out (I seem to say that about all my layouts-but it's true! I wouldn't post them if I didn't like them). Don't forget that through the month of February you can get $2 off Be Mine. Download my freebie quickpage in the post below to get the coupon code.

Wii Fit

We got a wii and wii fit for Christmas this year. It's been so much fun to use it although I haven't used it in several days. My daughter Natalie has been obsessed with the wii balance board. I'm not quite sure what she finds so appealing, maybe it's just an obstacle for her to try to crawl over. She loves to push up on it and when she does it looks like she's exercising. I joke that she can do downward facing dog better than I can! I just had to scrap pictures that I took of her exercising.

The colors in the pictures and the outfit that Natalie was wearing lent themselves very well to working with Aprilisa Designs' kit called Best Friends. I just truly love this kit with it's beautiful color palette, gorgeous papers and fun elements. This kit just keeps calling me name. Here's a preview of the kit:
Here is the layout that I made using this beautiful kit. The scalloped border is a template by Delicious Scraps. I love scallops! It's Natalie funny?
