2011 Calendar

Last year I made wall calendars for various people for gifts and I used generic templates and layouts that were supplied by the company that printed the calendars. Well this year I decided that I was going to scrap my own pictures. This would have been fine if I was just making 1 calendar for myself but I wasn't! I made 6 separate calendars! I used the same layout but I had to adjust things depending on what photos I had. They took me a long time but the result is fabulous! I think everyone has received their gifts already so I can know show you the layouts I made. Next year I am going to scrap monthly so I don't have all of them to do last minute!

Snappy

I've got a fabulous kit from AmyDane Designs to tell you about today. I fell in love with the kit called Snappy. I'm a sucker for brown, aqua blue and greens together (add orange and I'm in heaven!)LOL Everything in this kit was so much fun to work with. Here's a look at Snappy. I made a hybrid project using this kit. Last year I created desktop calendars for quite a few members of my family (both men and women) and I used various kits and had to change pages based on whether I was making the calendar for a man or woman. Well, Snappy works well for both men and women so all I had to change were the pictures depending on who I made the calendar for-that made it so much easier and faster!

I scrapped layouts in a 4x6 size using Snappy, added a calendar brush that I downloaded, printed off the layouts as pictures, glued them to cardstock (January on the front, December on the back, etc), used my bind it all to punch holes and bind in, and Voila! my calendar was done! So easy yet with a striking result. Last year I made the stands using random pieces of cardboard from boxes I had laying around. I'm reusing those this year so the calendars were even faster! Here's a look at the calendar put together and it's pages.

December Addicts and January Addicts

I know it's late this month but I wanted to show you a layout that I made using the Mega kit and bytes for December. Scrappin Daisies is doing the December Addict's this month and her mega kit is called "Christmas Surprise." I used this kit and the bytes to do a layout for a speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap. Here's a peek at the mega kit.You can get the mega kit and bytes separately, or you can get the December addicts club for $10 which includes the mega, bytes, a freebie kit (called Just Chillin-it's super cute!) and the immediate download kit called "I Tweet U" which is a really cute kit too. I think the $10 is a great deal! Here's my layout using Christmas Surprise. The January Addicts club is now on sale. Ramona the Pest Designs is in charge of the addicts club for January. She's got great things planned (if you get her newsletter you got to see sneak peeks of the kits and they're fabulous!). January Addicts is on sale for $7 until January 1st. After that the price goes up to $10, so go grab it now!

Want to get a kit free?

The Stuff to Scrap Designers have been posting freebie parts of a mega kit called Countdown to Christmas on the Stuff to Scrap blog. My day is day 22 (today!) and I made an alpha for you. You have to visit the Stuff to Scrap blog to figure out how to get it free. It'll be free for 48 hours because of a goof I made! Now onto the free kit. I made a Christmas kit called White Christmas. I love the movie White Christmas and I watch it every year. I absolutely LOVE the last scene in the movie with the big red dresses trimmed with fur, the elegant feeling of the tree and the whole scene, the snow falling outside. I was inspired by that scene when I made this kit. I wanted to make a more traditional kit rather than a whimsical kit because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas. I want red, green and white when I scrap Christmas pictures-not pink, blue, or orange. I also made this kit a sophisticated, elegant kit with silvers and golds thrown in. Here's a look at my kit White Christmas. Here are just a couple layouts made using this kit. I will show you more later. Layouts are by Stephanie and Debbie respectively. I'm sure you're waiting to find out how to get a free kit, aren't you? Now I'll tell you! Did you know that historically the 12 days of Christmas started ON Christmas and continued 12 days after Christmas? That period of the 12 days after Christmas was called Christmas tide and ended on January 5th, with Epiphany the next day which marks the end of the Christmas season. So instead of me giving away a piece a day of the kit 12 days before Christmas, I'm doing it the historic way. I'm giving away a piece a day 12/25-1/5. You have to visit my blog every day to download the next piece. The first piece or 2 will be left up longer because I'm sure many of you won't be online on Christmas. The kit is also in my store. Right now it's 40% off so you can grab it for just $2.39. Once that sale ends, it'll be on sale for $2.50 until 1/5. So please come back on 12/25 to get your first piece.
